Summary of the note
On September 17 and 18, WTE Miami 2025, the U.S. international travel trade show, will bring together an international community of industry professionals at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The event provides exhibitors with a unique platform to showcase their destinations, products, and services to key decision-makers from the Americas, Africa, Southeast Asia, and other regions.
“WTE Miami is a driving force for new business alliances, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange. We bring together top-tier buyers, tourism boards, and industry innovators,” says Javier Pérez Palencia, Director of WTE Miami. “The loyalty of our exhibitors demonstrates that this event serves as a strategic avenue for accessing diverse markets and generating concrete results.”
Miami International Airport and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), the official tourism agency and host of the event, are key players in the event's international reach.
“As sponsors of WTE Miami, we know how important it is to showcase how our destination drives tourism and business growth,” said Rolando Aedo, Director of Operations for the GMCVB.
"This event offers our industry partners great opportunities to build strong connections and long-term partnerships. Miami International Airport is an essential part of this success."
Spain focuses on new markets
Turespaña, Spain's official tourism promotion agency, will participate as a Premium sponsor in this edition to strengthen the country's visibility as an international tourist destination.
For the first time, Aragon will be present at WTE Miami 2025, along with its capital, Zaragoza, and the Marian Route, a cultural and pilgrimage route.
Aragon, considered an undiscovered gem on the Spanish tourist map, will showcase its rich cultural offerings, authentic cuisine, and a wide variety of experiences linked to nature and heritage.
"Our presence at WTE Miami reflects a clear commitment to positioning Aragon on the international radar as an essential destination," says Jorge Moncada, Director General of Tourism for the Government of Aragon. "We want to bring the U.S. market all the richness, diversity, and strategic location of our region, from its natural landscapes to its most deeply rooted traditions."
Zaragoza, known as "the city of two cathedrals," has over 2,000 years of history. In Miami, its Roman heritage, its connection to Francisco de Goya—who began his artistic career there—and its winemaking culture as the World Capital of Garnacha, a native Spanish grape variety, will be highlighted. Thanks to the high-speed train, the city is just 90 minutes from Madrid and Barcelona, making it an ideal starting point for exploring Spain sustainably.
“WTE Miami is a great opportunity to connect Zaragoza with tour operators from across the Americas and position ourselves in new international tourism circuits,” says José Francisco García, Manager of Zaragoza Tourism.
A fair that generates real results
WTE Miami stands out for its ability to bring together destinations and tourism providers from around the world in a professional, results-oriented space.
Last year, the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA) used its participation to boost the region's positioning as a multi-destination destination among the American public.
"This event allowed us to showcase the tourism wealth of Central America and promote the Central America Travel Market – Honduras 2025, an exclusive event to market the isthmus's offerings to a professional audience," explains Boris Iraheta, Secretary General of CATA.
Kristin Karst, co-founder and executive vice president of AmaWaterways, adds: “This event allows us to look into the future of tourism and cruising, identify new opportunities, and grow sustainably. We can learn a lot from each other to build the future of the industry.”
Businesses driven by value connections
One of WTE Miami's key strengths is its highly targeted B2B appointment program. Exhibitors like CATA benefit from a matchmaking system designed to connect with buyers, agencies, operators, media, and digital platforms.
"We've made significant progress toward our goals of building commercial ties with U.S. agencies and operators and following up on joint promotional initiatives," says Boris Iraheta. "We met with key players such as IATA and Volaris Airlines, with the goal of improving air connectivity and strengthening multi-destination tourism."
Adriana Ron Pedrique, head of Iberia's portfolio for the US and Canada, highlights the quality of the format: "WTE Miami is efficient and very well organized. It allows you to connect with the right people and make the most of every minute. It's a more focused, relatable, and very useful event thanks to the strong presence of leaders from Latin America and the US."
New niches, new opportunities
“We also detected interest from American influencers, with whom we explored the possibility of organizing fam trips that generate high-impact visual and narrative content. It's a different and effective way to promote our destinations,” adds Iraheta. Furthermore, the event opened up new distribution channels: “We explored partnerships with tourism wholesalers, new players in the Latin American market, and specialized travel segments in the U.S.”
