Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, SA and a member of the global airline network Star Alliance, announces the addition of a new route to and from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, beginning January 13, 2026. This city becomes the fourth destination served by the airline in the Caribbean country, joining Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and Santiago de los Caballeros, expanding connectivity options for passengers in the region.

“Beginning in January 2026, Copa Airlines will open operations in Puerto Plata and resume flights to Santiago de los Caballeros, expanding connectivity in the Dominican Republic. These routes boost cultural and economic exchange, foster tourism and business in both cities, and encourage more visitors to Panama through our Panama Stopover program, consolidating our Hub of the Americas® as a key connection point for the Caribbean,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

Recognized as the city that boosted tourism in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Plata, located on the country's north coast, stands out for its natural and cultural diversity, and a cuisine that fuses indigenous, African, and Spanish flavors, offering a variety of traditional dishes and Caribbean flavors. In addition to its white-sand beaches and history, the city offers authentic experiences such as visiting rural communities, learning merengue with local musicians, or exploring sports culture at the Bartolo Colón Stadium and Museum.

Beginning January 13, 2026, Copa Airlines will begin operating this new route with three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The flight will depart from Tocumen International Airport in Panama City at 7:26 a.m. (local time), arriving at Gregorio Luperón International Airport in the Dominican Republic at 10:51 a.m. (local time). The return flight will depart from Puerto Plata on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 11:51 a.m. (local time), landing in Panama City at 1:36 p.m. (local time).

With the addition of these routes, Copa Airlines expands its network to 91 destinations in 32 countries in Central, South, North America, and the Caribbean. Passengers interested in traveling to any of these destinations can make their reservations through www.copa.com , sales offices, the call center, or their preferred travel agency.
