Disneyland Resort in California celebrates 70 years of magic

Disneyland Resort celebrates 70 years since its opening on July 17, 1955, when it introduced the world to a new concept in family entertainment. Disneyland Resort, which Walt Disney dedicated with the hope that Disneyland would become “a source of joy and inspiration for all the world,” continues its historic 70th Anniversary Celebration with even more experiences for guests to enjoy all summer long and beyond, cementing its legendary history and legacy as The Happiest Place on Earth.

“Walt Disney – A Magical Life” Debuts at Disneyland Park
The new attraction “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” makes its public debut at the Main Street Opera House. It features a cinematic presentation of Walt Disney’s journey, culminating in a visit to Walt’s office, all made possible by the magic of Audio-Animatronics.

In a moving pre-attraction video titled “Memories of Walt,” those who worked alongside Walt Disney, as well as those inspired by his vision, share personal stories and insights about Walt Disney.

The Main Street Opera House lobby features a new gallery called “Evolution of a Dream,” showcasing Disneyland images, artifacts, and art—some never before seen—from before, during, and after Walt’s dream came true. Visitors can also view a special exhibit highlighting the origin and history of Audio-Animatronic technology, from its beginnings with Walt to the incredible advancements of today.

More Tributes to Disney’s Legacy
At Main Street Cinema, “So Much That We Share: A Tribute to the Sherman Brothers” features a heartwarming three-and-a-half-minute short film, “The Last Verse,” which celebrates the eternal connection and message of hope that emerge from the Sherman Brothers’ iconic song “It's a Small World.” Originally created to celebrate the song’s 60th anniversary, the film reveals a new verse written by legendary songwriter Richard M. Sherman in what turned out to be his final contribution to Disney.

This third and final verse can already be heard in the final scene of the “It's a Small World” attraction in Disneyland Park's Fantasyland.
