Guanacaste Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, recorded 1,191,931 passengers during the first half of 2025, a 2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, the year that holds the all-time record for visitation at the terminal.

Toronto (YYZ), Houston (IAH), and Miami (MIA) are the top three tourist-sending markets. Regarding airline performance, United, American, and Delta lead the way, having the most operations in the first half of the year.

Domestic flights also experienced a significant increase compared to the first half of the previous year, with traffic up 12.7%.

Infrastructure advancements also marked the first half of the year, with the opening of the new 634 m² mezzanine commercial area in the boarding lounges, new pet and nursing areas, and five new food stalls. All of these improvements offer a first-class experience and guarantee passenger satisfaction.

Guanacaste Airport announces the opening of five new routes and the addition of a new airline starting in December of this year, thus strengthening its international connectivity.

Canadian airlines are leading this expansion: WestJet will operate direct flights from Vancouver (YVR) and Winnipeg (YWG), while Porter Airlines joins as a new operator with routes from Toronto and Ottawa. Delta Air Lines will expand its presence at the airport with a new connection from Detroit (DTW).

“This 2% growth within the prevailing global environment this year reflects the success of a long-term strategy based on ongoing contact with airlines. The new routes reflect the market's dynamism and consolidate Guanacaste as a key destination in the region, confirming our goal of positioning ourselves as an aspirational market globally, in line with VINCI Airports' positive mobility and the attraction of strategic niche markets,” said César Jaramillo, general manager of Guanacaste Airport.
