Winter break has just ended in Chile, but that doesn't mean the enthusiasm for travel has slowed. In fact, in the near future—on August 15th, given the commemoration of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary—another opportunity opens up to take advantage of a much-needed getaway abroad.
In this sense, it's always important to travel safely. And what better way to do so than with Assist Card, a regional leader in travel assistance, which offers a wide variety of products that can be customized to suit the customer's needs.
Specifically, Assist Card shared information on the most popular add-ons purchased by Chileans when traveling, in addition to revealing a surge in pre-existing conditions.
Among them is "Protected Baggage Plus," which provides enhanced protection for your suitcase; that is, it provides protection against loss, breakage, or delay of checked baggage. Also in high demand is coverage for mobile device theft (computer and phone), and pregnancy coverage, which protects pregnant women against any unforeseen events.
The former was the best-selling product in 2024 and continues that trend so far in 2025, leading with more than 50% of preferences. Also attracting significant interest among Chilean travelers is the "Vida" product, which provides a fixed amount in the event of accidental death or total and permanent disability caused during the trip.
Regarding assistance for pre-existing conditions, this is another of the most valued plans by Assist Card customers, as it increases the coverage amount for previously diagnosed conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, among others. From January to date, it represents more than 12% of sales, peaking precisely in January 2025. Compared to the same period in 2024, this product has seen a growth of more than 30%. Therefore, Assist Card highlights the awareness Chileans have gained regarding their pre-existing medical conditions and the importance of strengthening their coverage to travel safely and with peace of mind.
“The numbers reflect a strong trend toward personalizing travel assistance based on individual needs. Chilean tourists traveling abroad are increasingly aware of the importance of traveling protected and having robust coverage to avoid high costs in the event of unforeseen events that may occur during their trip. At Assist Card, we offer a broad portfolio of products that allow travelers to focus solely on what's necessary: enjoying their trip,” says Renzo Caldarella, Direct Sales Manager at Assist Card Chile.
