The commemorative event was led by CATA Secretary General Boris Iraheta, who highlighted the Agency's impact on the positioning of Central America and the Dominican Republic in European markets and, more recently, in the intraregional market. Also participating were officials from the diplomatic corps, such as Ms. Cherie Nisbet, Ambassador of Belize to El Salvador, representing the Pro Tempore Presidency of CATA.
As part of the program, the panel "CATA 20 Years: The Story of a Successful Multi-Destination Tourism Promotion Model" was held. Key players in the agency's evolution participated: Carolina Cerna, representative of the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador; Nancy Mejía, Executive Director of the Guatemalan Chamber of Tourism and member of FEDECATUR; and Mercedes de Mena, former Executive Secretary of SITCA.
Representatives of CATA's development partners also spoke, including Olga del Pino, Senior Advisor for the Spain SICA Fund, and Mr. Oscar Liang, Project Advisor for the Republic of China (Taiwan) for SICA, who highlighted the history of collaboration and the regional impact of the joint initiatives.
As a festive closing to the event, a raffle for tickets to Central American destinations was held, courtesy of Transportes del Sol and Shuttle Centroamérica, thus reinforcing the message of regional integration and connectivity that CATA has promoted since its founding.
With this anniversary, CATA reaffirms its commitment to sustainable tourism development, regional integration, and the promotion of a vibrant, diverse, and opportunity-filled Central America.
