SEATTLE, July 21, 2025 – Expedia’s Travel Agent Affiliate Program (TAAP) announced the launch of innovative platform updates aimed at driving growth, operational efficiency, and profitability for travel agents worldwide. These enhancements were developed based on feedback and needs expressed by the agent community and offer more robust booking management tools, expanded payment options, and new ways to generate revenue.
Key new features include improved features for time-sensitive booking, the addition of bank transfer payments, and the expansion of the agency service charge feature. These innovations give agents greater control over their operations, optimize their customer service, and strengthen their value proposition with greater confidence.
According to Robin Lawther, Vice President of Expedia TAAP, “45% of travelers used an agent to book all or many of their trips in the past year, making it clear that, now more than ever, the role of travel agents is essential. We see a real impact with these new tools, and we will continue to invest to make it easier for agents to grow and thrive.”
Greater flexibility in time-limited reservations
Expedia TAAP has strengthened its "Book Now, Pay Later" functionality, extending the advance booking window from 280 to 365 days. This allows agents to secure rates in advance without requiring immediate payments, improving cash flow management and adding value to customers who plan ahead.
Additionally, a new option has been added to make significant post-booking modifications, such as changes to dates, room type, or occupancy, without having to cancel and rebook. This tool streamlines processes and responds more efficiently to travelers' requests.
New payment method by bank transfer
To offer greater flexibility, the platform now supports bank transfer payments for hotel reservations in key European markets, including Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Finland, and the Netherlands. This option provides more convenient alternatives in regions where card payments may not be the preferred option.
Expansion of cargo by agency service
Due to high demand and strong results, the agency service charge feature has been expanded to more than 20 markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Germany, France, and the United Arab Emirates. This tool allows users to apply a fee of up to 30% to the total amount of a hotel reservation directly from the platform.
This allows agents to transparently capitalize on their experience and investment of time, while continuing to offer personalized, high-value service to their clients.
The new features reinforce Expedia TAAP's commitment to developing solutions that empower agents and raise the bar for travel advisory services.
