The activity was jointly organized by the Ministry of Tourism, the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR), and the Embassy of Uruguay in Colombia, with the support of Avianca as a strategic partner in this initiative.
More than 50 representatives of the Colombian tourism sector—including operators, travel agencies, and specialized media—participated in the event, where they learned firsthand about the main experiences Uruguay offers as a destination.
During the event, the ease with which Colombian tourists can visit Uruguay was highlighted: no visa or passport is required; all you need is an ID card, making the country an accessible, safe, and accessible option for Colombian travelers.
Furthermore, it was emphasized that Uruguay is a country with quality services, without overcrowding, where everything is within reach and numerous options can be enjoyed within short distances. It is positioned as an ideal destination for slow tourism, with a strong cultural identity, accessible and inclusive gastronomy, wine tourism, rural tourism, and a firm commitment to sustainability.
The advantage of using Uruguay as a gateway to sell regional offerings was also highlighted, as part of a multi-destination strategy for the 2030 World Cup.
The Uruguayan delegation was led by Martín Lameiro from the Ministry of Tourism and Marina Cantera, president of CAMTUR, along with María Julia Fernández, Promotion Coordinator. Also present were Ambassador Mercedes Corominas and Uruguayan operators such as Rosario García (Buquebus), Lucía Amestoy (Cynsa), and Macarena Pérez (Dcom Travel).
Uruguay regularly participates in the ANATO International Trade Fair and, for the past three years, has worked steadily with the Ministry of Tourism to position the country for Colombian operators. Thanks to these efforts, Uruguay was included in the catalog of destinations promoted under the multi-destination model, standing out especially for its unique identity. In 2024, more than 36,000 Colombian tourists visited Uruguay, with Colonia being the main gateway to the country.
