The good news for the country regarding tourism continues. During the second quarter of 2025, ticket sales to Colombia increased by 9.2% compared to the same months in 2024, with a total of 310,666 tickets.

“This positive trend in ticket sales demonstrates international interest in experiencing and discovering authentic experiences in our territory. These promotional strategies and infrastructure investments are giving the country visibility as a constantly evolving destination, one that is doing a good job with the public-private partnership to capitalize on its potential,” explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

The top issuing countries, by tickets sold in the second quarter of 2025, are the United States, with a 39.4% share; followed by Mexico, with 10.5%; and finally Chile, with 6.5%.

This behavior also represents an opportunity for economic growth, not only for traditional cities but also for other regions of the country. When analyzing the main destination cities by country, travelers from the United States, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and Canada typically choose Bogotá as their first choice; however, travelers from Chile, Ecuador, Peru, and Guatemala choose Cartagena first. Other destinations include Medellín and San Andrés.

In fact, in ticket sales to Colombia's main airports, San Andrés and Medellín registered the greatest variation compared to other destinations, with 45% and 15% growth, respectively. Bogotá and Cali registered the lowest variations, with 0.7% and 2.5%.

It's worth noting that 84.6% of tickets purchased in the second quarter of 2025 to Colombia are concentrated between April and July 2025; 15% between August and December 2025; and 1% for January, February, and March 2026. "This suggests that international passengers tend to purchase short-term tickets, meaning no more than three months in advance. And there's very little advance notice for tickets purchased more than six months in advance," the union leader stated.

He added: "Travel agencies have understood the new dynamics of tourism, which is why they have worked to continue providing tourists with a more personalized, targeted, and sustainable offering."
