Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that during the first half of 2025, 61,182,000 passengers were transported on domestic and international flights.
"Every passenger transported represents an opportunity for economic growth, job creation, and well-being in tourist destinations. We will continue working to ensure that tourism is a true lever of transformation and a driver of Shared Prosperity for all," he commented.
According to information from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) announced that, between January and June of this year, 30 million 726 thousand passengers were transported on domestic flights.
This represents a 4.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 and a 20.1 percent increase compared to 2019.
He detailed that the airlines with the highest passenger flow on domestic flights during the first six months of 2025 were VivaAerobus and Volaris, which together carried 22 million 447 thousand passengers, 8.2 percent more than in 2024.
Furthermore, he noted that between January and June 2025, 30 million 456 thousand passengers were transported on international flights, representing an increase of 1.7 percent compared to 2024 and 24.1 percent compared to 2019.
The main Mexican airlines that transported passengers on international flights during the first half of 2025 were Aeroméxico and Volaris, with a total of 6 million 803 thousand passengers, a figure that represents a growth of 4.6 percent compared to 2024 and 39.6 percent compared to 2019. Likewise, the US airlines with the highest passenger flow in that period were American Airlines and United Airlines, with a total of 6 million 794 thousand passengers.
