Air traffic in Latin America and the Caribbean registered a 6.24% increase during the first half of the year, compared to the same period in 2024, according to preliminary data from Airports Council International for Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC). This sustained growth has led the organization to revise its annual projections for the region.

Argentina led the regional recovery with a 15% increase in passenger volume. Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC, emphasized that "liberalization and deregulation policies in the Argentine air transport sector are yielding concrete results in terms of sustained growth, greater connectivity, and a significant increase in passenger numbers."

Brazil also performed outstandingly, with 112 million passengers transported, representing a 9.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Mexico registered 3.1% growth, reaching 94.5 million passengers and consolidating its position as one of the most mature markets in the region.

Other countries that showed significant growth in the first half of the year were El Salvador (+8.5%), Peru (+7.1%) and Panama (+7%).

Based on these results, ACI-LAC anticipates regional growth of 4.1% by 2025, reaching 789 million passengers, higher than the global projection of 3.7%.

Air cargo also grew.
Between January and June 2025, air cargo volume in Latin America and the Caribbean grew by 2.2%. Panama led this segment with more than 100,000 tons transported, representing a 15% increase. Argentina also saw a notable increase of 8.3%.
