The community and visitors celebrated a new edition of the traditional Martial Glacier Torch Ride, as part of Mountaineer Day. The event, organized by Cerro Martial, End of the World Park, celebrated its 30th anniversary by illuminating the mountain and glacier in a unique spectacle that could be enjoyed throughout the Reserve and the city of Ushuaia.

The Provincial Government, with the presence of Vice Governor Monica Urquiza, the President of INFUETUR (National Institute of Tourism), Dante Querciali, and the Ministers of Production and Environment, Karina Fernández, and Public Works and Services, Gabriela Castillo, accompanied this important event, highlighting its identity and its incentive to tourism, which in this edition brought together more than 2,000 people.

Likewise, the staff of the Fuegian Tourism Institute participated and collaborated with the event, offering various activities for the whole family throughout the day, to enjoy the winter and the snow, Fuegian cuisine, and cultural offerings, in collaboration with the Provincial Secretariat of Culture.

In this regard, the Vice Governor emphasized that "great work is being done between the public and private sectors in Cerro Martial, understanding that tourism boosts and expands the province's economy." She also maintained that "this place has great potential, which we enjoy in winter and summer, where resident families and visiting tourists can take advantage of its proximity to the city to enjoy the mountains and the glacier."

Meanwhile, the president of INFUETUR, Dante Querciali, highlighted the importance of the activity for the province's identity and tourism: "As every year, the Fuegian Tourism Institute supports this traditional event, which also has the support of the private tourism sector. It was very special to be able to celebrate this 30th anniversary of a Fuegian tradition that illuminates our mountains, with activities for the whole family that included local cuisine, cultural activities, and sports."

The event began at 1:00 PM with live music, followed by tastings, games, and artistic and sports performances starting at 3:00 PM. The most anticipated moment arrived at 8:00 p.m., with the descent with torches carried by more than 70 skiers and the traditional lighting of the snowman, performed by students from the Ushuaia Multipurpose Art Center, which thrilled the audience.

It's worth mentioning that INFUETUR presented a recognition to Cerro Martial, organizer of this important event on its 30th anniversary.

"The mountain brings us together in this event that has grown year after year, from the idea of a group of skiers, then with INFUETUR joining in the organization, and today with Cerro Martial strengthening this tradition. I congratulate everyone who was part of this history, those who descended today with torches, and I celebrate that we continue with the Fuegian treasons," said Queciali.

Within the framework of the event, a fam tour was held with tour operators from Latin America, with the objective of promoting the creation of commercial proposals for the 2026 edition, promoting the Descent with Torches as a distinctive experience for the week of August 9, with daytime and nighttime snow activities. It also had media coverage and content creators with national distribution.

Querciali expressed his gratitude for the work carried out jointly with the National Institute for Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR), INFUETUR, the Tierra del Fuego Chamber of Tourism; the Fuegian Association of Travel Agencies (AAFUVYT); the TDF Hotel and Gastronomy Chamber and the Tierra del Fuego Tourism Hotels Association (AHT).
