Punta del Este International Airport reached its highest level of winter activity in the last 12 years, considering data from June and July. During July, commercial air transport saw a 25% increase in passenger traffic compared to the same period in 2024.
In that same month, private aircraft traffic grew 12%, driven by the use of the new general and private aviation terminal inaugurated at the beginning of the year. For both months, the combined volume of commercial passengers increased 19%, and private flights registered a 15% increase compared to the previous year.
The winter season was also marked by a historic operation, through which more than 3,000 young Uruguayans traveled to Bariloche on direct flights from Punta del Este. This growth reflects progress in the deseasonalization of the activity and the consolidation of the destination as a year-round tourist attraction.
At the institutional level, the airport was recertified for its Quality Management System under the international standard ISO 9001:2015, a recognition issued by LSQA and endorsed by IQNET. The distinction includes the certification of Ground Handling Services, which are added to the Operational Safety Management System as a differentiating element in airport competitiveness.
In terms of connectivity, the current season sees an increase in Aerolíneas Argentinas frequencies to five weekly flights, the reinstatement of GOL, and the confirmation of routes operated by Paranair. Regular flights to Buenos Aires and São Paulo are currently maintained throughout the year.
