Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that 23.4 million international tourists entered the country during the first half of the year, 7.3 percent higher than the same period in 2024 and 6.2 percent higher than in 2019.
“Tourism continues to grow and strengthen its contribution to the national economy, thanks to coordinated efforts with the private sector and all three levels of government. Through the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, we continue working to ensure that the benefits of these figures translate into well-being for the resident communities, promoting community tourism as a tool for inclusive development,” he stated.
He also highlighted that between 2024 and 2025, considering only the month of June, the number of international tourists increased from 3,697,844 to 4,069,368, reflecting a significant growth of 10%. This increase consolidates Mexico as one of the most attractive and competitive destinations globally, demonstrating the confidence of international travelers in the country's tourism offerings.
He added that, between January and June 2025, foreign currency inflows from international visitors to Mexico amounted to $18.68 billion, representing a 6.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 and a 43.1 percent increase compared to 2019.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism reported that, according to the International Traveler Survey published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), 47.4 million international visitors entered the country during this period, 13.8 percent more than in 2024.
Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that foreign currency income from international tourists between January and June 2025 amounted to $17.12 billion, 5.2 percent more than in 2024 and 43.5 percent more than in 2019.
He highlighted that the average spending by inbound tourists via air during the same period was $1,280.7, representing a 6.9 percent increase compared to 2024 and a 25.4 percent increase compared to 2019.
On the other hand, he stated that, during the first six months of the year, 5.7 million cruise passengers arrived at the country's various ports, 9.6 percent more than in 2024 and 20.8 percent more than in 2019.
He specified that foreign currency income from cruise ship excursions amounted to $484.2 million, representing an 11.3 percent increase compared to 2024 and a 49.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2019.
