Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your current position?
I'm María Eugenia Culebro Pérez, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Chiapas.
What new features are being presented this year at IPTM?
Our main objective is to attract both national and international conventions and meetings. We have the infrastructure, capacity, and trained staff to welcome visitors with quality services. Additionally, after each event, attendees can enjoy our beaches, jungles, archaeological sites, magical towns, community tourism, gastronomy, and handicrafts.
What infrastructure does Chiapas offer for large conventions?
In cities like Tuxtla Gutiérrez, we have venues with capacity for 3,000 to 4,000 people, suitable for concerts, sporting events, annual conventions, and also for promoting medical tourism. We want visitors to not only attend events, but also experience our wonders and return with their families on vacation.
How has interest in Chiapas for incentive trips evolved?
Experiences that integrate positive impact activities, such as tree planting, have become established. San Cristóbal de las Casas, for example, has positioned itself as a wedding destination, offering traditional ceremonies with the cultural richness of indigenous communities, making Chiapas a unique location for memorable events.
What industries choose Chiapas for their events?
Primarily conventions, forums, and training events, as well as wedding tourism. We want our visitors to enjoy our attractions and become ambassadors for the destination, promoting Chiapas by word of mouth.
What is the objective of participating in this fair, and with which delegation did you attend?
Participation at fairs is essential to maintain visibility. We are coming with a delegation of 30 to 40 representatives from Chiapas to promote the state, show that it is a reliable and safe destination, and connect organizers with service providers. We are confident that this participation will strengthen tourism in our state.
