This weekend, Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora accompanied President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo on her working visit to the state of Guerrero, where important infrastructure, tourism, and social welfare initiatives were implemented to consolidate the recovery of Acapulco and the state as a whole.
The tour included the flagging of the Marinabús and supervision of the National Port System Administration (Asipona) in Acapulco. It also included yesterday's inauguration of the first phase of the ISSSTE Regional High Specialty Hospital (HRAE) and the start of construction of the Paths of Peace program, focused on ensuring safe and dignified spaces for women and families in the port.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) emphasized that these actions represent the spirit of a government that works with firm convictions and prioritizes poverty reduction and social justice. She recalled the words of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo: "In this government, there is no room for corruption; public resources return to the citizens and do not remain in the pockets of a few."
He emphasized that each of these initiatives confirms the commitment of a government that acts for the benefit of the people, promotes collective well-being, and strengthens tourism as one of the main economic activities for Guerrero and the country.
She also emphasized that Acapulco is once again consolidating its position as one of the country's most iconic tourist destinations, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the three levels of government, the private sector, and society. "Guerrero is and will continue to be a beacon of joy, hospitality, and shared prosperity. Today, Acapulco shines once again as a world-class tourist destination," stated the head of Sectur.
Regarding tourism, Rodríguez Zamora invited national and international visitors to enjoy the upcoming high-impact events taking place in Guerrero, such as the Air Show 2025, scheduled for November 21-23 in Santa Lucía Bay, and the Urban Down Hill 2025, to be held in the Magical Town of Taxco on August 23-24.
These actions are part of the Acapulco se Transforma Contigo program, a strategy that President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo presented for the recovery of the port and that is already in operation in various parts of the city.
This program includes street rehabilitation, lighting installation, mural painting, and a series of comprehensive projects aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure, ensuring the supply of drinking water, optimizing waste collection, and advancing environmental sanitation, with the goal of restoring safety, well-being, and community life to Acapulco.
Within this framework, construction began on the Paths for Free and Safe Women: Paths of Peace, with an investment of 111 million pesos, aimed at rehabilitating more than 10 strategic sections along the Costera Miguel Alemán and other key roads. These projects include universal accessibility, green areas, and street lighting that will restore safety, trust, and community life to public spaces.
The general director of the National Fund for Tourism Development (Fonatur), Sebastián Ramírez Mendoza, recalled that this model was promoted by the President during her administration in Mexico City and is now expanding to Guerrero as a comprehensive urban and social recovery strategy.
With these actions, the Mexican government reaffirms its commitment to rebuilding Acapulco with the participation of all, ensuring safety, well-being, and tourism development for the benefit of the people of Guerrero and national and international visitors.
