The second half of the year is ideal for lacing up your running shoes and exploring some of Brazil's most stunning scenery. With favorable climates and circuits that traverse colonial cities, tropical forests, idyllic beaches, and mountain landscapes, the sports calendar offers options for all ages and levels, from three-year-olds to elite marathon runners.

Florianópolis (Santa Catarina)

The Mountain Do Costão do Santinho is one of the state's most iconic races. Launched in 2007, it combines tourism, leisure, and sport with courses of 5, 9, 21, and 42 km. The route traverses four beaches, three coastal slopes, dunes, trails, forests, and dirt roads in the north of the island, with a high technical level that makes it one of the most challenging races in Brazil.

Paraty (Rio de Janeiro)

The colonial city of Paraty will host runners in distances of 7, 24, 33, 55, and 108 km. The route includes the coastline, the Atlantic Forest, waterfalls, and centuries-old cobblestone paths. Founded in 1667, 250 km from Rio, Paraty remains preserved between mountains and a waterfront from which small boats depart for beaches with blue-green waters. Paraty Brasil is a benchmark event for Brazilian trail running and an opportunity to explore one of the best-preserved spots on the Rio de Janeiro coast.

Salvador (Bahia)

With over US$40,000 in prize money and an expected attendance of 15,000, the Salvador Marathon 2025 is part of the city's Official Sports Tourism Calendar and is certified by World Athletics. The races, ranging from 5 to 42 km, start from Parque dos Ventos (Boca do Rio), some at 5:00 a.m. to avoid the tropical heat. In addition to its cultural power and history as the country's first capital, the city offers urban beaches and resorts throughout the state.

Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro)

The traditional King and Rain of the Sea combines running, swimming, and biathlon. This year's new addition is the return of Leblon to the course: the 10-km race will follow a unique route along almost the entire ocean coastline of the South Zone, starting at Praia Vermelha (Urca) and finishing at Post 12 in Leblon. It is the only event in the segment with nine cross-country events and attracts families and athletes from ages 3 and up. Distances: 200 to 10 km for swimming and 300 to 2 km for running.

Gramado (Rio Grande do Sul)

In the heart of the Serra da Rio Grande do Sul, the X-Treme Run Gramado 2025 offers 7, 12, 25, and 55-km circuits through mountains, forests, lakes, and waterfalls. Once in Gramado (115 km from Porto Alegre), the tour continues through Caracol Park and the charming city center, famous for its European-inspired architecture. In this region of hydrangea-covered valleys, Italian, Swiss, and German settlers fused their traditions with the local ones.

Pomerode (Santa Catarina)

The Pomerode International Marathon is the gateway to the most German city in the country. Located 75 km from Navegantes Airport, more than 90% of its population is of German origin and retains a Bavarian atmosphere in its architecture, cuisine, and festivals. The Pomeranian dialect and Hochdeutsch survive in everyday life, while the nearby Itajaí National Park offers forests, rivers, and waterfalls. The race includes 6, 21, and 42 km distances, as well as a children's competition.

Brasilia (Federal District)

The Maratona Monumental de Brasília (Brasília Monumental Marathon) attracted more than 12,000 athletes from 585 cities and 40+ countries in 2024. Part of the national calendar, with Permit Prata from the Brazilian Athletics Confederation, a member of AIMS, and with the international seal of World Athletics since 2023, it covers iconic areas of the Eixo Monumental and the Esplanade of the Ministries—including the National Congress and Metropolitan Cathedral—in 5, 10, 21, and 42 km categories.
