The seventh version of Discover MarketPlace opens in Puerto Plata
The event, which will be held until October 5, will have commercial and promotional exchange days, in which the representatives of hotels, travel agencies and airlines will participate
The Tourist Cluster of the destination Puerto Plata (CTDPP), opened the night of this Wednesday, the seventh edition of the Discover Marketplace tourism fair, during a ceremony held in the hotel rooms Emotions by Hodelpa Playa Dorada, where participants gathered of the event, authorities and influential personalities of this economic sector.
The event, which will take place between October 3 and 5, will include trade and promotional exchanges, in which the representatives of hotels, travel agencies, airlines and executives of companies associated with the industry will participate. In addition to fulfilling their work agendas, they will have the opportunity to meet and rediscover the important novelties offered by the "Bride of the Atlantic".
Hodelpa's director of operations, Ángel Hernández, on behalf of Edmundo Aja, president of the chain, addressed some words of welcome, while stressing that "Hodelpa Hotels & Resorts has been present in destinations such as Santiago, Santo Domingo for years. and Juan Dolio, but we understood that Puerto Plata is like "a train in motion that does not stop" and we decided to get on it, and here we are, at the end of last year we opened this, our second hotel under the brand name of "Emotions: An Expression of Hodelpa¨.
For his part, Roberto Casoni, president of the Tourist Cluster of Puerto Plata, said that in its edition number seven, Discover Marketplace promotes the modality of sustainable tourism and adventure by bringing together 169 tour operators and wholesale agencies; 56 national agencies and 80 hotels and service companies that will be in the exhibition areas of the Puerto Plata Convention Center.
"This event has already been consolidated as the largest adventure fair held in the Dominican Republic and the second most important tourist marketing fair in this country," he said.
Casoni said that in Discover MarketPlace 2018 will be presented the benefits and attractions of the north of the Dominican, and even other destinations in the country that are added as complementary, including Santo Domingo, Montecristi, Santiago, Jarabacoa, Constanza, Juan Dolio, Cabrera, Rio San Juan and Samaná.
Meanwhile, the Vice Minister of Destination Management for the North Region, Julio Almonte, on behalf of the tourism minister, Francisco Javier García, informed that "the destination North has received in the last 3 years about 3, 251,248 visitors by air and sea, and plans to close with 1, 200, 000 without counting the 500 thousand national tourists. To date they have reached over five thousand flights, 99 cruises with 468,923 visitors, which have generated a consumption of approximately US $ 12 million. "
