Dominican Republic receives more than 720 thousand cruise passengers so far this year

The Dominican Republic is preparing to surpass the figures of arrival of registered cruise passengers in 2017, just when the next month officially starts the 2018-2019 season and before that marks an increase in the month of September of 86.32% compared to the registered in September of last year, according to the information collected by Infotur Dominicano
As for the accumulated statistics of these nine months, the port of Amber Cove of Carnival, located in Maimon, Puerto Plata, north of the Dominican Republic, has been received between January and September 2018, a total of 96 ships of cruises transporting 392,258 visitors, of which 344,568 were passengers and 111,969 were crew personnel, leading in this way the reception of cruise passengers in these nine months.
While the Port of La Romana has received a total of 263,397 visitors, until the ninth month of 2018. Of this total, 197,666 are cruise passengers and 66,490 are crew personnel, who have docked in this port through 99 cruises .
These figures are based on those obtained by Infotur Dominicano from the Directorate of Cruises of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), contained in the manifests of the tourist vessels, documents provided by the concessionaires of the administration of the tourist terminals: Cruise Bay Services, Sansouci Port., La Romana Port. Amber Cove Port.
For purposes of statistics, Mitur, takes into account the passengers transported in the ferry that makes the route, Santo Domingo - San Juan, Puerto Rico, which transported in September, a total of 1,987 visitors, of these, 1,490 passengers and 497 crew members .
The tourist destination maritime flow of the Dominican Republic registered in the month of September of 2018 reached the amount of 42,969 cruise passengers and 14,497 crew for a grand total of 57,466 foreign visitors.
These figures represent a year-on-year growth of 88.73%. Puerto Plata continues to lead the Dominican market of cruise passengers with an 86.32% share
In total, the country received 968,547 visitors in these nine months in 382 cruises, of this total, 57,466 arrived at Dominican ports in September, while 61,855 arrived in August; 83,744 in July; 81,740 correspond to the month of June, 55,450 arrived in May, 84,573 in April; 188,320 visitors arrived in March; 153,139 visitors correspond to February and 202,260 visitors in January.
Of this total of visitors in the nine months, 722,639 were passengers (cruise passengers) and 245,908 were crew personnel.
