ATPCO and SITA announce airlines joining NDC Exchange
The agreement includes British Airways, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, airlines of the LATAM Group and Finnair
ATPCO and SITA announced that British Airways, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, airlines of the LATAM Group and Finnair, will participate in NDC Exchange, a platform that allows the interoperability of content in the airline distribution ecosystem, which is a reliable bridge between NDC (New distribution capacity) of IATA and traditional distribution methods.
"By connecting to the NDC Exchange, we have access to these first engines, as well as other airlines that are joining in. By building a unique connection to NDC Exchange, we are being more efficient with our development resources, which allows us to concentrate on the Customer experience instead of content acquisition We're excited about the momentum it's generating and we can not wait for the next airline to join, "said Rich Miller of Serko, an industry-leading corporate booking tool.
NDC Exchange is a community platform that allows API connectivity between airlines and vendors (GDS, travel agencies, aggregators, OTA and TMC) so they can exchange messages easily and cheaply. NDC Exchange supports workflows of purchases, reservations and services, and allows cross-selling of ancillary services between airlines, and between these and the vendors. Using a common data model, it normalizes messages independently of the version or format, creating interoperability throughout the distribution ecosystem. Travel sellers can access multiple airlines through the NDC Exchange, reducing the cost of their implementation.
"NDC Exchange is the only platform in the industry that allows airlines and vendors to drive their NDC programs at the pace that best suits their business needs," said Graham Wareham, Product and Solutions Director for ATPCO. "With the addition of these five world-class airlines to Air Canada, the exchange has now become a convincing part of the NDC ecosystem. With a simple connection, vendors and other airlines can easily access the five operators. "
NDC Exchange facilitates the translation of XML messages in real time, which allows airlines and travel sellers to connect quickly and efficiently to the platform, regardless of their scheme or API standard. Once they connect to NDC Exchange, airlines have access to all connected travel sellers and vice versa.
NDC Exchange has seen strong industry interest, as Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC), which was incorporated early, offers settlement support and ATPCO's Routehappy drives rich content capabilities to improve retail.
NDC is standardized, developed and implemented in accordance with applicable laws, whose objective is to allow the travel industry to transform the way in which services are sold to the pleasure and business traveler. It supports greater product differentiation, access to rich and complete content, and provides a more transparent shopping experience.
