Tue November 06, 2018

Born approximately between 1980 and the year 2000, most of them seek authentic experiences that relate them to the cultures and traditions of the destinations

According to data built by ANATO, and based on figures provided by Migración Colombia, Millennials (between 22 and 37 years old) are the generation with the greatest interest in knowing Colombia with 40% of the total number of foreign visitors arriving in our country. ; followed by Generation X (38 to 53 years) with 29% and generation Z (8 to 24 years) which reaches 23% ".
"The constant realization of trainings directed to the Travel Agencies and in general to the tourist chain, has always had as main objective, to give them to know aspects that allow them to be more competitive in this market of constant change", said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
One of these events that the Association is developing is the ANATO Tourist Training Seminar, which, with the support of the UNWTO, consolidates, broadens and deepens the knowledge of entrepreneurs in the sector. This year, the event will be held in Montería, Armenia and Cali on November 19, 21 and 23 respectively.
Thanks to this type of conference, the Travel Agencies have identified aspects, for example, that Millennials are curious and seek to know the world; that have more tourist spending than previous generations when they were that age; they like comfort; take advantage of their work trips to live experiences in the destinations; they are interested in living local traditions; and prefer personalized service, among others.
"However, Travel Agencies also take into account the importance of knowing those aspects that generation X demands, because although they are not the leaders of the list of those who visit us, they vacation with their children, that is, generation Z, and for them we must also be prepared and thus provide them with what they will demand, "said the trade union leader.
Another of the data reported by Migración Colombia is the gender of foreign visitors. On this, the source reveals that for the period between January and September 2018, of the 3,140,588 foreign visitors that arrived in the country, 56.1% (1,764,308 million) were men, while 43.8% (1,377. 719) were women.
