New title holder of the CPTM takes possession and confirms participation in FITUR

To head the fourth and final session of 2018 of the Governing Board of the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico (CPTM), which took possession of the general direction of the body Glenda Argüelles Rodríguez, the Federal Tourism Secretary, Miguel Torruco Marqués, He asked for a vote of confidence and said: "the moment of change came, this is the beginning of a new era in which we will work for the good of our future generations."
The first item on the agenda was the appointment by the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, of the Director General of the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico, Glenda Argüelles Rodríguez, based on Article 21 of the Federal Law of Parastatal Entities and 28 of the Organic Statute of this company of majority state participation.
In addition, the Governing Board authorized the general direction of the CPTM to carry out the necessary actions to reduce the administrative cost of the entity, in addition to applying efficiency measures, as well as making the necessary adjustments in the occupational structure of the personnel, in strict adherence to the applicable labor legislation.
In this sense, the Governing Board also authorized the general management of the Board to proceed with the administrative, financial and budgetary legal steps leading to the closure and disincorporation of the 21 representative offices that the CPTM has abroad.
In the session it was reported that the head of the Sectur, Miguel Torruco, will participate in the thirty-ninth edition of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR 2019, one of the most important international tourism events in Europe, which will be held from 23 to 27 January, in Madrid, Spain.
The participation of the Secretary of Tourism in FITUR has the purpose of promoting Mexico before markets and international tourists with high per capita spending, which are the ones that generate the greatest economic flow, as well as boosting the interest of foreign investors in the tourism sector of our country. .
Miguel Torruco will explore new markets at FITUR, especially those whose travelers generate higher per capita spending who are more interested in cultural destinations than in sun and sand. The above, given that 80 percent of hospitalization tourism in Mexico is concentrated in only five of the 134 places of tourist vocation that exist in the country (Cancun, Mexico City, Playa del Carmen, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta) .
Before the Government Board of the CPTM, Torruco Marqués said, on the other hand, that the Tourism Tianguis, which this year will be hosted by the port of Acapulco, is self-financing and works with a marketing company to manage its activities.
In this regard, the Secretary of Tourism said that the touring strategy of the Tourism Tianguis of Mexico will be maintained, alternating the headquarters with Acapulco every two years, while announcing that on January 20 the convocation will be launched so that the state governments are interested in hosting your application for this is the most important event in the sector.
