Puerto Plata begins work on its new port
The construction will generate more than 6,500 direct jobs and some 12 thousand indirect jobs. Once in operation, it could contribute more than US $ 72 million of direct income
With the presence of President Danilo Medina will be the first court that will start on Tuesday January 15 at 10:00 a.m. the construction of three cruise, cargo and fishing terminals in the bay of Puerto Plata, according to the information collected by Infotur Dominicano.
The invitation made by the Presidency of the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Tourism and the Port Authority, has been well received in the community of this city in the north of the country.
We recall that the construction work of what will be a dock to receive three cruises, in addition to cargo ships and the breakwater for fishermen, has been granted under public tender called by the Port Authority to a Mexican company that already has experiences in Costamaya, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and in Honduras,
Part of the commitment of the tender is that it should be completed by the end of 2019, so it is estimated that Puerto Plata will receive the first cruise and more than 600 thousand cruise passengers in 2020 in its first year of operations.
