As part of the tourism promotion strategy, Quito ratifies its presence for the fourth consecutive year at the FITUR 2019 International Tourism Fair, one of the most important tourism events in the industry worldwide. This meeting will take place in Madrid from 23 to 27 January, concentrating the participation of 9 thousand companies from 165 countries and the attendance of more than 200 thousand visitors.
For the Mayor's Office of Quito, and the official entity for the development and tourist promotion of the city, Quito Turismo, participation in the No. 39 edition of FITUR constitutes a fundamental opportunity for the dissemination and promotion of tourism in one of the priority markets such as Spanish, which in 2018 increased its reserves to Quito by 69%, making us one of the preferred destinations for this market.
In addition, through the presentation of the destination and networking with media and industry players, the relationships and presence of the Metropolitan District of Quito in the Ibero-American market can be strengthened, thus generating new business relationships.
This meeting, also, will allow to know the latest trends in world tourism, innovation, travel, communication, marketing, etc. Within the promotion strategies, Quito will be presented as a city to explore nature in adventure activities, enjoy its gastronomy and be surprised by its culture.
The campaign "Your Story Begins in Quito" and its new digital tourism platform will be announced, which includes several elements, including a renewed website 3.0 with detailed information on the tourist attractions and essential routes of the city, where the user can Find everything about Quito.
Also, the mobile application that allows you to discover the city before and during the trip, becoming the perfect travel companion and a tourist video "Your story begins in Quito" that shows the beauty of every corner of Quito; all driven by the new city brand, which is composed of sober, avant-garde elements for the positioning of the tourist reference that is Quito in the region and that has been inspired by the icons most representative of the identity of Quito.
Quito will also conduct a cycle of destination trainings in the cities of Barcelona, ​​Valencia and Seville, where tourism promotion activities will be reinforced to tour operators and travel agents, in order to extend their stay in the city and incorporate the new products in their tour packages.
Within the framework of FITUR, Quito is nominated in two recognized international competitions such as the "Excelencias Turísticas 2018" Prize for the Quito Digital Tourist Platform project, and in the AppTourism Awards in the category "Destination Guide" by the GOUIO app , as a finalist with Mar del Plata and Central America.
The objective is to reaffirm the leadership that Quito has obtained as the favorite destination in South America.
