Within the framework of the International Tourism Fair, which takes place until January 27 in Madrid, Quito's digital tourism strategy has won two important international awards

One of them is the communication group 'Grupo Excelencias', dedicated to promoting best practices in the field of tourism and culture since 2005, who awarded the 'Digital Touristic Platform of Quito' with the 'Excelencias Turísticas 2018' Prize .

For this contest, tourism projects of companies that stood out for their strategy, ideas and creative plans that made a difference in the sector during 2018 were presented. They were evaluated by a jury made up of prominent members of culture, the tourism industry and gastronomy. 21 awards were presented to projects in 13 countries.

Likewise, the 'AppTourism Awards', granted the GOUIO application, the first place in the category "Destination Guide". Quito was one of the three finalists with Visitcentroamérica and Turismo Mar del Plata. 'AppTourism Awards' awards the best applications that help improve the tourist experience when it comes to organizing your trip.

The jury has highlighted in this application, be very useful for the organization of the trip, the good user experience, which adds its accessibility, identity and good content quality.

This contest organized by SEGITTUR AND FITUR, has received the application of at least 50 applications, 26 of them Spanish and 22 in the international categories.

The GOUIO App project was presented by the Marketing Director of Quito Turismo, Dennis Swanberg, who, as part of the promotion strategy of this virtual tool, mentioned the advantages, characteristics, and generation of value in the tourist destination before a jury. composed of representatives of FITUR, SEGITTUR and TURESPAÑA, as well as experts in the technology sector, tourism, online marketing and communication.
The GOUIO app is part of Quito's Digital Tourism Platform, which was presented in 2018 by the Mayor's Office of Quito as part of its tourism promotion strategy.

This important project has become the virtual travel assistant par excellence, of local, national and foreign visitors, thanks to its simple interface and important features when traveling, which facilitates the traveler to make decisions for a better experience and satisfaction during your stay.

The 'New Digital Tourism Platform of Quito' is integrated by a renewed web 3.0, adapted to the current search and navigation needs, where the traveler can find detailed information about the tourist attractions and essential routes of the city, registering so far 79 178 visits The mobile application GOUIO, has 38 814 downloads, you can get it for free through IOS and Android, to accompany the traveler throughout the city. And finally, the renewed tourist brand of the city, composed of sober and avant-garde elements that exalts an Quito full of contrasts, traditions, modernity and cultural richness.

The concept of this platform was based on market studies carried out by Quito Turismo that allowed determining the main competitive advantages that the city has, from the point of view of the tourists that pursue a new vision oriented to current travel trends and the future .

In November 2018, the 'Digital Tourist Platform of Quito' obtained its first recognition in the World Smart City Awards, where it was named as one of the six best projects in the Digital Transformation category, becoming the only digital tourism tool to receive this mention.

With all these recognitions, Quito highlights its excellent management and performance within the tourism sector, reaffirming its commitment and leadership, as part of a strategic plan with a vision to 2021.
