Colombian travel agencies continue to grow in ticket sales
During 2018, accumulated sales in dollars for Colombia presented a growth of 9.3%, reaching USD 1,696,110,587, compared to the same period of 2017
When compared with the results obtained in the last three years, 2018 reported being the year with the highest sales of travel agencies, in which national and international air tickets are concerned.
"In 2015 we witnessed a crisis caused in part by the collapse in the price of oil, but today you can see a recovery in the figures with a considerable increase in the amount of tickets issued," said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
For the period between January and December 2018, accumulated sales in dollars for Colombia presented a growth of 9.3%, reaching USD 1,696,110,587, compared to the same period of 2017 when the result was USD 1,551,954,686.
Also, during the year 2018, the amount of tickets issued was 7,210,969, which meant an increase of 3.6% compared to the same period of 2017, whose figure was 6,996,874, closing the year in a positive way , despite the fact that during the first months of last year a fall was reported.
It is worth noting that these sales for Colombia with credit card have grown by 7.7%, and represent 50%.
"We are satisfied with these results. This shows that Travel Agencies continue to be an important driver of the entire tourism chain, and we will reaffirm it in the next version of the ANATO Tourist Showcase, where we will meet all the actors in the sector, including more than 20 airlines and providers from more than 32 countries, "concluded the trade union leader.
