Quito presents its promotion strategy at the ITB Berlin 2019

The Ecuadorian capital participates in the leading event of the German tourism industry that runs until March 10 in Messe Berlin

 


During the five days of the fair, more than 10,000 companies from 5 continents and more than 180 countries present their latest products and the latest trends in the global sector in 1,000 stands that occupy around 160,000 square meters. The organizers of the fair expect the presence of more than 150,000 visitors between international professionals and visitors over the weekend.
The participation of Quito in this fair represents a fundamental opportunity for the promotion and tourist promotion of the destination in the European and world market, showing the city as the gateway to the destination Ecuador, where the traveler begins his own history.
 
In this important event through the representation of Quito Turismo, the city promotes its 2019 digital positioning plan, which includes several elements, including the new Tourist Digital Platform, from where the user can find information about the city through a renewed and friendly interface.
 
The use of the GOUIO application as an essential tool for the current traveler; which also won the first place in the category "Destination Guide" in the "App Tourism Awards", and the winning video in the category Film & Video Competition in the recent FITUR 2019, "Your Story Starts in Quito", which seeks to exalt beauty of iconic places in the city as well as the cultural richness of its people and every corner of the capital. All these resources, tools of diffusion and tourist positioning are presented in this prestigious showcase of international tourism
 
As for the international marketing strategy that the city of Quito exhibits in this event and during 2019, the tourist promotion of the destination is considered, addressed to the following markets:

Development Markets: United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Holland, Mexico and Argentina.
Positioning Markets: France and Canada.
Opportunity Markets: Chile.
Maintenance Markets: Colombia, Peru, Spain and Brazil
According to the Institutional System of Tourist Indicators SIIT, during 2018, the city of Quito received approximately 692,492 tourists, which meant a 6.1% increase in visits compared to 2017. Of this total, around 20,411 tourists came from Germany , which represents 3% of the total number of visits to the city and which reflects a growth of arrivals of 13% compared to the same period last year. If we analyze the behavior of the European issuing markets towards Quito during the last 4 years, we find that Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and France are among the top 10 tourism source markets
 
Germany is among the main markets for European arrivals to the city, and this has made it possible to strengthen commercial relations, and ITB constitutes a platform to consolidate investment strategies in the promotional actions towards the B2B and B2C segments.
According to forecasts of the World Tourism Organization, it is estimated that by 2020, Germany, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom and France will become the countries with the highest number of tourists outside their borders.
 
Quito Turismo is part of the Ecuadorian stand of the Ministry of Tourism, as a co-exhibitor, and exchanges experiences in terms of tourism promotion with authorities and industry leaders.
