Hotel occupancy rate rises in February in the Dominican Republic

The Caribbean destination registers in the first two months of 2019 an average rate of hotel occupancy of 85.9%

 


The Dominican Republic registers in the first two months of 2019 an average rate of hotel occupancy of 85.9% according to the results provided and obtained by Infotur Dominicano of the statistics prepared by the National Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores ), vice technical ministry of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) and the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD).

In this sense, this average is obtained from the summation of the statistics in February, when the country registered an occupancy rate of 89.1% and that recorded in January was 82.7%.

It should be noted that in February, all destinations have increased hotel occupancy figures with respect to January this year, highlighting in this regard the destination of Samaná, which after registering a rate of 78.5% in January achieved a rate of 91.5 percent.

In these two months, the destination La Romana - Bayahibe with 91.8 remains the only destination over the 90 percentage points of average in 2019, its rate of increase with respect to January is 2.7 percent.

Punta Cana - Bávaro with 89.6% occupies the second position on average, increasing with respect to January 5.6% in the occupancy rate in February.

Boca Chica - Juan Dolio is placed in the third destination with the highest average occupancy in the two months, reflecting an increase of 3.6%. It follows Samaná with an average rate in the first two months of 85 percent and Sosúa - Cabarete with an occupancy rate of 78.8% registering a variation of + 8.4% in February compared to January

Then Puerto Plata is located with 78% of average occupancy, after which in February it raised the rate by 8.8%, being one of the highest variations registered in these two months. Santo Domingo follows with an average of 61.3%, raising its occupancy rate in February with respect to January by 7.4% and finally we have Santiago with an average rate of 59%, raising its occupancy by 6.1% in February as well. January.

Compared to the occupancy rate of February 2018, which was 86.3%, it has decreased slightly by 0.4 percent.
