Quito presents its promotion strategy at WTM Latin America 2019

The Ecuadorian capital participates in the leading travel and tourism event in Latin America that ends tomorrow in Sao Paulo

 


The participation of Quito in this fair represents a fundamental opportunity for the promotion and tourist boost as a destination, as well as the gateway to the destination Ecuador, where the traveler begins his own history.
In this important event through the representation of Quito Turismo, the city promotes its 2019 digital positioning plan, which includes several elements, including the new Tourist Digital Platform, from where the user can find information about the city through a renewed and friendly interface.
 
The use of the GOUIO application as an essential tool for the current traveler; which also won the first place in the category "Destination Guide" in the "App Tourism Awards", and the winning video in the category Film & Video Competition in the recent FITUR 2019, "Your Story Starts in Quito", which seeks to exalt beauty of iconic places in the city as well as the cultural richness of its people and every corner of the capital. All these resources, tools of diffusion and tourist positioning are presented in this prestigious showcase of international tourism.
It will also promote the tourist offer of adventure travel and nature tourism developed in the northwest of the capital.
 
According to the Institutional System of Tourist Indicators SIIT, during 2018, the city of Quito received approximately 692,492 tourists which meant a 6.1% increase in visits compared to 2017, of this total, the Brazilian market recorded an arrival of 13,056 people, whose participation corresponds to 2% of total visits and reflects a growth of 9.02% compared to 2017; which results in the important need to execute promotional actions that strengthen the positioning of the destination and its tourist offer in the minds of these visitors
 
In March, as part of the strategy to strengthen the relationship between both destinations, Quito Turismo invited recognized, influencers, journalists and Brazilian media to a tour of the city, where they learned about the tourist attractions that the capital offers its visitors in addition to its millenary history, culture and local cuisine.
Another important advance in terms of connectivity with this important market started in December, when the Brazilian airline GOL started operations in our country, integrating the Quito - Sao Paulo route. The purpose of this new connection is to strengthen the presence of the destination and increase the volume of tourists coming to Quito
In this event Quito Turismo is part of the Ecuadorian stand of the Ministry of Tourism, as a co-exhibitor where B2B meetings will be held with key actors of the Brazilian tourism industry.
