Dominican Republic trains more than 250 cruise travel agents
During the completion of Cruise360, the Caribbean destination presented a wide variety of resources, which can be used by travel agents to increase the number of cruise passengers
The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (MITUR), through its cruise department, trained more than 250 cruise travel agents at the "Cruise360" fair, an event for professionals in the cruise industry, organized by the International Line Association. of Cruises (CLIA, by acronyms in English).
The training seminars under the title "Santo Domingo: Capital of he New World" (Santo Domingo: capital of the New World), seeks to train travel agents about the Dominican Republic destination, and that they become knowledgeable experts of each one of the natural and tourist resources that have the different poles of the Caribbean destination.
During the workshops, offered by the director of Cruises, Orfila Salazar; Yaniris Felipe, representative of the Tourist Promotion Office (OPT) of the Dominican Republic in Miami; and Gabriel Rodríguez, executive director of the Port of San Souci; travel agents could know about the different areas of the country, but especially in the benefits offered by the city of Santo Domingo.
"With these workshops we want to show all the beauties and attractions of the Dominican Republic, but in a special way we want all of you to become spokespersons that the capital city, Santo Domingo, is a destination that has it all," he said. Salazar during his speech at the seminars.
During the realization of Cruise360, the Caribbean destination presented a great variety of resources, which can be used by travel agents to increase the number of travelers (cruise passengers) to the Dominican Republic.
Also, the director of the Cruise Department of MITUR announced the new project of the Taíno Bay Cruise Port, in Puerto Plata, which will be open for all cruise lines, in the month of July of next year 2020.
Salazar took advantage of his speech at Cruise360 to thank all the travel agents specialized in the subject of cruises, who have been key to the increase in the arrival of cruise tourists to the Caribbean destination.
In the first quarter of this year, the Dominican Republic reported the arrival of 567,215 tourists on 177 cruise ships, reported Salazar.
Cruise360, the conference for professionals organized by the Cruise Lines Association (CLIA), which this year lasted until April 8, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, featured a series of conferences, presentations and exhibitions. destinations and cruise lines. The objective of this event is to promote tourist destinations and ports, in addition to offering training aimed at travel agencies and the industry specializing in the sale and marketing of the cruise market.
