Ministry of Tourism and Embratur receive delegation from the event to strengthen with China and growth of the country's tourism industry
A day after the Minister of Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, received the Chinese delegation, responsible for organizing the Global Forum of Tourism Economics (GTEF), the interim president of Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Institute), Leonidas Oliveira, met with representatives of the Brazilian trade and the Asian country, at the Institute's headquarters, on Thursday (11). The purpose of the meeting was to formalize and present the protagonism of Brazil, which, together with Argentina, was invited to share the highlight of this year's edition of the event, which will be held between October 13 and 15 in Macao.
The forum brings together tourism leaders from around the world to promote strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors, as well as discussing market trends in Asia.
In yesterday's meeting (10), the minister Marcelo Álvaro Antônio spoke of the importance of the Brazil-China relationship, for the development of tourism. "We are very excited about this participation because it is another step towards an ever closer relationship with the Chinese market, the main emitter of tourists in the world, with about 135 million travelers. We have worked intensely to reduce this physical distance with actions that increase our connectivity and thus be able to receive more and more these visitors, "commented the minister.
According to the interim president of Embratur, Leonidas Oliveira, this will be a great opportunity for joint promotion actions between the countries of South America in the Asian continent and to promote the opening of the Chinese market. "Brazil's role in this important forum reinforces the goal of definitely entering China's travel market, which moves US $ 250 billion annually in the world economy. Of the 135 million Chinese who travel the world every year, just over 60 thousand choose Brazil as their destination. We have a lot to grow, especially because the Chinese tourist has the main motivations of Business Tourism and Ecotourism, two segments that Brazil has great potential, "he explained.
In addition, Leonidas highlighted the new moment of the sector in the Country: "the Brazilian government has placed tourism as a priority for economic development. We are in an important moment of transition, where special areas are being liberated for debureaucratization and greater investments. Together with the Southern Cone countries, we are better able to compete in the world and seek more business for Brazil in China, a market that is as much interested in ecotourism as in the culture of a country. "
China Tourism Chamber President Wang Ping reinforced the importance of exchanging experience with South American countries for the preservation, development and strengthening of tourism in the region. "China has become one of the greatest powers in the world. We are willing to exchange and combine tourism in order to make better use of the tourists and thereby improve the quality of life of the populations through the sector, "said Wang Ping at Embratur.
