Brazil seeks to stimulate tourism in the host cities of the Copa América
The championship will be defined in 26 matches between June 14 and July 7, in six stadiums located in the cities of Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre
Brazilian authorities are pushing actions for the tournament to summon football fans, but also become an opportunity to enjoy Brazilian cities and their nearby destinations.
The Minister of Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, made an invitation to Argentines who plan to travel to Brazil to take advantage of the event. "Culture, good gastronomy and nature make up a complete proposal for all audiences. The Copa América is an excellent excuse to walk around Brazil and get to know new places in the country. "
One of the initiatives that the government is promoting to convene tourism this year was the decree signed on Thursday (11) by President Jair Bolsonaro, to put the practice a national plan for sustainable tourism in places that have been declared heritage of humanity by Unesco. Brazil has 21 places considered cultural and natural heritage, among them the city of Ouro Preto, the Iguaçu National Park, the geography of the city of Rio de Janeiro or the historic center of Diamantina. The objective of the initiative is to attract more tourists to these places, improving the infrastructure of tourist destinations with a focus on preserving spaces and enhancing the local culture. In 2018, 8.1% of Brazilian GDP came from tourism, which the government wants to stimulate as a strategy to create jobs.
