Tourism is an industry that has shown great evolutions globally. The trends in the world indicate a steady growth in the number of international tourists and this is in line with the rates in the cruise segment.
 
According to the most recent Survey of Season that ANATO carries out to its Travel Agencies, cruises are the third most sold product by its Associates.

"This segment is a market with a lot of potential and great attraction as it is a different alternative that allows reaching non-traditional destinations and having all the services on board. In fact, most of those who seek this option to vacation, prefer to do so with the advice of a Travel Agent, "explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
 
According to ProColombia, in 2006 there were 53 landings, while in 2018 231 were reached. Regarding the number of cruise passengers, last year 378,081 arrived, that is, 9.7% more than in 2017, despite the fact that there was a decrease of 1.3% in landfalls.
 
It should be noted that the port of Cartagena receives the largest number of cruise passengers, followed by Santa Marta and San Andrés y Providencia. For its part, the port of the capital of Bolivar, awaits for the 2018-2019 season the arrival of 226 calls and 471,442 cruise passengers.
 
Between 2017 and 2018, eleven new ships have arrived in Colombia for the first time. Some of them are Carnival Freedom, Celebrity Reflection, MS Eurodam of Holland America, Carnival Splendor of Carnival Cruises and Norwegian Bliss.
 
"Cruises are a segment that does not stop growing and who makes a trip in them tends to repeat this experience. The efforts of the Government to improve the image of the country and the ratification of the DIAN concept on the non-collection of tax on the sale of cruises, promoted by ANATO, have promoted the growth of this industry, "said the leader.
