Bariloche grows in the MICE segment
The city presents new infrastructure and services to become one of the most sought after in Argentina
Argentina is consolidated in the area of Corporate Tourism according to the latest report of the International Association of Congresses and Conventions (ICCA), and Bariloche seeks to position itself with its offer in the countries of the region.
According to Bariloche Bureau, a business association that gathers MICE's local offer, in 2018 the city received 214 registered events, marking a 20% growth over 2017. And the numbers for 2019 are even more auspicious.
The city's Bureau has among its objectives during 2019 not only the capture of events within Argentina, but also the search to position itself in the region, particularly in Brazil. For this, it is developing a series of strategies that include the realization of Fam Tours, alliances with airlines and the use of digital technology to present its offer. Today, the Bureau of Bariloche is one of the associations with the best positioning in digital networks in the country.
The 5% of the international sporting events that have Argentina like soothes are realized in Bariloche. This puts the destination as a candidate to receive the ranking of the best destination for sporting events in South America by the World Travel Awards. The growth of the agenda is notorious every year and the city already has a fixed calendar of tournaments of different modalities as: the Ironman mountain races, mountain biking, volleyball, skiing and snowboarding.
Of all the meetings and events that take place in Bariloche, 36% are related to science and technology, since Bariloche is one of the main scientific centers of the region.
Another number that reflects the growth of Bariloche is the venue for MICE meetings: 24% of the meetings held in the city are international meetings (the average in Argentina is 4%). This is explained by the variety and quality of its lodging network, its international airport, the quality and beauty of its natural environment and for being a tourist brand with its own identity throughout the region.
This year, Bariloche seeks to consolidate its growth in the Argentine market as a venue for congresses and symposia.
