Today begins the 35th edition of the Expotur de Costa Rica
The 35 edition of the International Tourist Marketing Exchange opens its doors with the participation of 324 national companies and 230 international buyers from 35 countries interested in the Central American destination
Organized by the Costa Rican Association of Tourism Professionals (Acoprot), with support from the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (ICT), the National Chamber of Tourism, Proimagen, Futuropa, CCH, Imagazinetour and the Bureau of Conventions, among others, Expotur 2019 will conclude tomorrow his two days of sessions at the National Congress and Convention Center.
During these days the participants will negotiate and establish alliances, as well as the small entrepreneurs will take advantage of this showcase to showcase their products.
The Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica, María Amalia Revelo, said that of the 230 wholesale buyers, more than 160 come from the United States and another 60 from Europe, a market that she defined as fundamental and strategic for the tourist development of this Central American nation.
The above, because last year almost half a million Europeans visited our country, said Revelo, who expanded that in 2018 three million 16 thousand tourists arrived in Costa Rica, while in 2017 they were two million 959 thousand 869, according to official data of the Directorate General of Migration and Immigration.
Last night, at the inauguration of the appointment at the National Theater capital, President Carlos Alvarado highlighted the importance of the Expotur buyers fair in these 35 years for the promotion of tourism in Costa Rica.
Alvarado recognized the impetus of this fair to tourism in Costa Rica, from the public-private partnership, promoting this activity with a sustainable, inclusive and participatory vision.
Revelo said that Expotur is a showcase that allows our private tourist sector to build bridges with international buyers without having to leave the country and makes it possible to sell the Costa Rican tourism product while respecting traditional values and contributing to intercultural understanding and tolerance.
He recalled that EXPOTUR was founded 35 years ago by Carlos Lizama and Acoprot, in alliance between the public and private sectors, which -he said- allowed him to grow and position himself as one of the most important spaces in Latin America.
For his part, the president of Acoprot, Erasmo Rojas, said that over the years this bag of tourism marketing helped to turn Costa Rica into the tourist destination of which we now boast, but we must revamp our offer, adapt to the technology and the new consumer of the tourist product.
During the opening of the Stock Exchange, the EXPOTUR 2019 Prizes were awarded, which fell to Copa Airlines (International Promoter); former Minister of Tourism 2014-2015 Wilhelm von Breymann (National Promoter); Simón Barceló (Pioneer of Tourism) and the Mexican Marck Guttman (Friend of Costa Rica).
