SkyMiles Medallion members will be able to regain their status after their trips are impacted by some important life event

 


Delta SkyMiles Medallion members will now be able to take advantage of the "Reclaim my Status" program after a change, event or important life moment temporarily affects their travel plans. Built from scratch and based on feedback from Members, this is the latest addition to the Delta Medallion program.

"Returning to travel after a big change can be stressful and this is one more way we are showing Medallion members that we are here for them when they need it," said Sandeep Dube, Delta Senior Vice President of Commitment to the Customer and Loyalty and CEO of Delta Vacations. "Loyalty should always be reciprocal and as a leading consumer brand we are always looking for new ways to take care of our customers".

While each case will be evaluated individually, some life events that may modify trips include:

Becoming a father, including maternity, paternity, adoption or foster care
Recovery from a serious illness
Serious injuries
Change of jobs or careers
Care for a family member
Obtaining a title
And more

The key to the development of this benefit was direct feedback from Medallion Members, such as Daniel, whose frequent travel rhythm was abruptly interrupted by a bicycle accident that left him paralyzed from the mid-abdomen down.

"I knew I wanted to continue traveling for work and exploring the world, so I contacted Delta to see if they considered an exception and let me maintain my status while I recovered," said Dr. Daniel Grossman, an emergency physician and business leader "Although the Reclaim My Status program did not exist yet, the Delta team listened to me: they surprised me with a gift basket during my recovery, they reimbursed me for an upcoming trip and they extended my status." How the "Reclaim My Status" program works
When Medallion members are ready to start traveling again after a major change, an important time in life or an event that has affected the trip and caused a loss or change in status, they must submit a request to regain status. of Medallion endelta.com/reclaimmystatus.
Most Members will receive a response from Delta within five business days (but it may take up to two weeks) and, if the request is approved, they will automatically and immediately enjoy three months of complimentary Medallion status.
Then, Members that comply with the minimum travel and spending limits for that level of status during that three-month period will keep it. Below are a series of illustrative examples:

If a member enrolls in the "Reclaim My Status" program on December 31, 2019 or earlier, and meets the parameters, the Medallion status will be extended until January 31, 2021.
If a member enrolls in the "Reclaim My Status" program between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 and meets the parameters, the Medallion status will be extended until January 31, 2022.
