Brazil promotes actions in Germany to attract international events
Embratur booth at Imex Frankfurt offers opportunity to states and companies to close deals in business tourism and events
Embratur (Brazilian Institute of Tourism) presented this week the vast Brazilian potential for Event and Business Tourism in the German market, during IMEX Frankfurt, one of the most important fairs in the European continent focused on the MICE segment (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions). The 16 Brazilian co-exhibitors who attended the Institute stand held 400 business meetings. In total, the event brought together over 3,500 suppliers from all sectors of the worldwide event and convention industry.
According to an Embratur study, Germany's emissive market has considerable potential, especially in the Events and Business (Mice), Ecotourism and Adventure segments, as well as Cultural Tourism.
According to the Embratur Public Relations and Press Relations Coordinator, Milena Pedrosa, Embratur's participation in the event is fundamental to strengthen Brazil's image in the German market as a destination with potential for corporate and incentive travel.
"It is essential to be present and present the diversification of the offer that Brazil has to offer as a tourist destination. In the case of the German market, the target for 2019 is to increase the entry of German tourists by 8%. In 2018, 210 thousand visitors from this country were in Brazil. The achievement of the target could imply in currencies in the order of US $ 140 million, "he explains.
The 17th edition of IMEX Frankfurt was attended by four Brazilian destinations - Foz do Iguaçu, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Florianópolis, which will carry out, in all, six presentations for groups to bring together a universe of 120 professionals and suppliers of the tourism chain .
For the first time, the State Secretariat of Tourism of São Paulo officially participates in an international fair, in partnership with Visit São Paulo. The goal is to enhance the capture of events and business for the destination. The meetings promoted, with the support of Embratur during the fair, were responsible for the conduction of six events until 2021, with a projection of generation of approximately 500 thousand euros. The planned congresses cover several areas such as medical, logistics, transportation, human resources, innovation and technology.
The business meetings with participation in Rio de Janeiro generated the possibility of attracting seven more international events focused on science and technology. The state capital is also preparing to host the largest global architecture event in 2010. The 27th World Congress of Architects (UIA 2020 RIO) will bring together some 15,000 architects from around the world and a total of more than 20,000 people.
The Congress is held by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB). Rio de Janeiro won the competition to host the event with major destinations such as Paris, France and Melbourne, Australia.
IMEX Frankfurt is part of the Agenda for Commercial Promotion of Brazilian Tourism Abroad. The Brazilian booth at the fair is attended by national and regional convention agencies, large hotel companies, conference and exhibition venues, cruise lines, airlines, resorts, technology providers, event management experts and others. Currently, there are 21 weekly flights between Frankfurt, IMEX headquarters, with Brazilian cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza and Recife.
