The Caribbean country won the "Best Stand" award at the most important event of the segment held at CDMX
The stand of the Dominican Republic was visited by Mexico Tourism Secretary Miguel Torruco, which reaffirmed his interest to continue working together for the development of the sector in the region.
The Dominican Republic was consolidated as the main MICE destination in the Caribbean, surpassing the number of scheduled meetings. The participating co-exhibitors made more than 600 business meetings and managed to connect with the main event organizers in Latin America, the United States and Canada. Considered the main tourist destination of the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is positioned as a favorite among Mexican travelers whose visit to the country continues in constant growth.
Carolina Pérez, director of the Tourist Promotion Office (OPT) of the Dominican Republic in Mexico, said that this issuing market is a strategic niche for the country: "according to the Tourism Barometer prepared by the Dominican Ministry of Tourism, during the first quarter of 2019 the arrival of Mexican travelers increased by 54% in relation to the same period last year, being one of the countries with the highest growth of visitors ".
"The country makes great efforts to diversify its offer, has great accessibility by having eight international airports, huge facilities to perform different types of events, cutting-edge technology and a multilingual staff." The official added: "IBTM Americas is a platform to continue positioning us as number 1 in MICE in Latin America, it is also ideal for the promotion of the country brand, the segment continues to grow, especially in Punta Cana, our destination for meetings par excellence by In addition, work has been done to add new conventions in Santo Domingo and La Romana. "
