Amadeus and Volantio announce a new alliance
This agreement will help airlines optimize their capacity and increase revenues
Amadeus Ventures will invest in this young travel technology company, which uses machine learning to help airlines redirect passengers' reservations with flexibility towards flights with lower demand.
Nobody likes to show up at the airport and see how they can not bill for an overbooking problem. Thanks to the new agreement signed between Amadeus and Volantio, that experience could be relegated to history books.
Amadeus today announces two agreements with Volantio. This young travel technology company will receive financing through the Amadeus Ventures start-up investment program. At the same time, both companies have signed a new alliance that will allow airlines to easily integrate the innovative Volantio solution into Amadeus' Altéa technology.
Volantio is a business that fits perfectly with Amadeus. This technology start-up has created a leading platform in the sector called Yana that helps airlines optimize their capacity and revenues, improving customer satisfaction and financial results. Yana proactively identifies passengers with flexibility in full flights and offers them an incentive (such as points in the frequent traveler program, vouchers or category upgrades) to voluntarily change their reservation to flights that have lower demand. The platform automatically modifies the reservation of passengers who accept and process the selected incentive. Passengers receive notification on their mobile devices, even several days before departure, to avoid last-minute complications. The entire process is managed through machine learning in order to maximize profitability for the airline and improve the passenger experience.
Yana optimizes the management of oversold flights and helps airlines improve the general evolution of revenues after booking. The Volantio platform will complement Amadeus technology and provide airlines with more options to boost revenues throughout the flight's lifecycle: from booking to departure.
This announcement comes after Volantio won the Air Pitch competition, organized by the Amadeus Accenture Alliance in the Skift Global Forum held in September 2018 and which gave Volantio the opportunity to enjoy a four-day development sprint in the Innovation Center of the Alliance in Dublin. In more recent dates, this start-up returned to harvest praise during the T3CH meeting organized by Amadeus in March, where it won the start-up contest.
"We are honored and grateful to receive this funding and to enter into a business alliance with Amadeus, a company that has always been at the forefront of innovation in travel technology." Our company's mission is to create value for the travel industry. These agreements will significantly accelerate the growth of Volantio and its ability to fulfill this mission, which will allow more Altéa users to deploy our solution more quickly, and we look forward to starting work, "says Azim Barodawala. , CEO of Volantio.
"We are always looking for ways to contribute to the success of our partner airlines by offering better travel experiences to passengers and we believe strongly in the transformative potential of Volantio's technology, and we are confident that this latest Amadeus Ventures investment will be very fruitful for all involved, "says Suzanna Chiu, Head of Amadeus Ventures.
"The alliances are one of the pillars of our strategy to accelerate the growth and innovation we offer to airlines," he said. "Our intention is to facilitate the integration between Amadeus' Altéa technology and Volantio's technology so that airlines can offer more options." flexible to their travelers and, at the same time, maximize revenues ", explains Altaf Rizvi, Head of Partnerships, Amadeus Airlines.
Volantio already works with seven airlines, including Qantas, Iberia, Alaska Airlines, Volaris and IndiGo. Up to now, the user airlines have made an average of three to five times their investment and the response from customers has been very positive.
Volantio joins the portfolio of Amadeus Ventures, which focuses on companies that improve the experience of those who travel for work or leisure and who already has well-known companies such as FLYR, BookingPal and Betterez.
