In the summer foreign tourists will generate 3.76 billion dollars in Mexico

This amount will represent an increase of 15.5% over what was recorded in the same period last year


In the next summer vacation period there will be an economic spill on the part of international tourists of three thousand 760 million dollars, which will represent an increase of 15.5 percent, compared to the same period last year, informed the Tourism Secretary of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués.
By announcing the expectations for the July-August 2019 two-month period, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) added that, for their part, domestic tourists staying at hotels will spend 36 thousand 574 million pesos (equivalent to one thousand 925 million dollars), 3.6 percent more than in 2018.
Also, Mexicans who will travel through the country and stay in the homes of family and friends, as well as those who will not overnight, will spill another 40 thousand 284 million pesos (2.12 billion dollars), a figure 3.4 percent higher than registered in the same period last year.
In this way, domestic tourism will generate a spill of four thousand 45 million dollars that, added to that of foreign tourists, will reach a total expense calculated in seven thousand 805 million dollars.
Torruco Marqués added that, according to information from the Datatur system of Sectur, the Immigration Policy Unit of the Ministry of the Interior, the general directorate of Civil Aviation and the governments of the states, between July and August, the total number of tourists that will stay in hotels will amount to fifteen million 970 thousand, 2.6 percent more than in the previous year.
Of these almost 16 million visitors, twelve million 133 thousand will be domestic, this is three percent more; while the growth of international tourists will be 1.4 percent, with three million 836 thousand 499 people.
This will result in a hotel occupancy factor of 63.9 percent, 1.2 percent less than last summer, due to a two percent increase in the room offer.

Passengers by plane
Torruco Marqués said that the number of tourists that will be transported by plane, on domestic flights, will be nine million 187 thousand 514, with a growth of 4.1 percent in relation to what registered in 2018.
In turn, passengers on international flights arriving at the different airports in Mexico are estimated at four million 243 thousand, which means an increase of 1.4 percent.

Destinations and nationalities
The owner of Sectur abounded in that the main destinations to which national tourism will arrive, which will capture 47.57 percent of these travelers in the next summer season will be: Mexico City, with 14.4 percent; Acapulco, 10.0 percent; Cancun, 5.47 percent; Guadalajara, 5.3 percent; Veracruz, 4.8 percent; Puebla, 4.1 percent; and Mazatlan, with 3.5 percent.
For its part, the destinations that will capture 73 percent of international tourists will be: Cancun, with 26.1 percent; Riviera Maya, 22.2; Mexico City, 9.2; Los Cabos, 7.4; Mazatlán, 5.2; and Guadalajara, with 2.9 percent.
Finally, Miguel Torruco Marqués said that the main nationalities of foreign tourists who will visit us and their percentage of participation will be: United States, 59.8 percent; Canada, 5.2; United Kingdom, 4.1; Colombia, 3.2; Spain, 3.0; Argentina, 2.3; Brazil, 2.0; France, 1.7; Peru, 1.6; and Germany, with 1.4 percent.
"These countries represent 84.3 percent of the tourists of the 202 nationalities that arrive in Mexico," the head of Sectur said.
