WTM Latin America begins the registration process for the first edition of the WTM Latin America Responsible Tourism Awards. Launched officially this year, during the 7th edition of the event, the award will recognize, in four categories, the best tourism initiatives that present effective solutions for relevant and urgent issues. Information and rules to participate in the prize are available in Portuguese, Spanish and English in this link. The award places the Latin American continent on the global recognition route and follows the trend of other portfolio fairs that already highlight the best practices of responsible tourism, such as WTM London, WTM Africa and ATM, in Dubai.

For Thais Del Ben, Marketing Manager of WTM Latin America, the inclusion of the award in the Latin American edition reinforces the commitment of the event to elevate, together with the representativeness of its brand, the importance of sustainable and responsible actions in the sector. "This issue is urgent, it is for yesterday, who works with tourism knows it directly or indirectly, we have to encourage and revere those who intend to transform the chain of tourism and face the challenge of promoting responsible and sustainable actions in a universe that still He finds many barriers, we know that the activity generates wealth, but he also needs to be responsible for the impact of his activities before the local communities, the environment and the preservation of the patrimonies, which is why we ask for the participation of all the players in the sector. promote this important action together with WTM Latin America ", he reinforces.

Responsible Tourism is one of the topics that permeate the WTM portfolio. Since the first edition of the event here in Brazil, in 2013, the theme has been reinforced through the Responsible Tourism Program. In 2020, WTM Latin America will evaluate the following categories: "Best in poverty reduction and inclusion", "Best contribution to the preservation of wildlife", "Best attraction of cultural heritage" and "Best destination for responsible tourism".

The coordination of the award is the responsibility of Gustavo Pinto, counselor of the Responsible Tourism Program of WTM Latin America, who underlines the importance of including the activity in the official calendar of the event. "We selected the categories that most stood out during the history of the mother award, held in London since 2004, and we brought them to this premiere edition in Brazil," explains the counselor.

Registrations for all categories are open on the WTM Latin America website and you can learn more about each modality here. To register, candidates must complete a form with basic information and then download the registration document. More information can be found on the WTM Latin America blog.
