SKY announces direct flight to Santiago-Salvador de Bahía and takes route to Florianópolis
The low cost airline will be the only one that will operate directly the route to Salvador de Bahía. The first flight is scheduled for next December 30
Traveling from Santiago to Salvador de Bahía will be much quicker and easier, since SKY announced that as of today it is already possible to purchase tickets for direct flights on that route, after closing an agreement with the Brazilian city airport and the local government , through the Municipal Secretariat of Culture and Tourism.
From next December 30 SKY will debut with the first flight from Santiago to Salvador de Bahia, with three weekly frequencies to be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets will be available at a launch price of US $ 179 plus boarding fees and based on the Zero tariff.
The direct connection between both cities - which will be seasonal and will be in effect between December 30, 2019 and March 2, 2020 - will further strengthen the visit of Chileans to Brazil, where Salvador de Bahia is among the preferred destinations by national tourists.
"Being able to offer passengers the possibility to fly directly between Santiago and Salvador de Bahía is a great step forward for our operation, since we will be the only airline that will carry out this non-stop flight and because the Brazilian market is tremendously attractive for industry, "stressed SKY's commercial director, Carmen Gloria Serrat.
For his part, the mayor of Salvador, Antônio Carlos Peixoto de Magalhães Neto said that "the attraction of these flights to Salvador de Bahía reaffirms the commitment of the local government to promote initiatives that increase tourist flow. Last summer we had the biggest tourist movement of the decade and this year we want to overcome that achievement. "
Eight months after the arrival of SKY in Brazil, the airline will also reactivate Santiago-Florianópolis, which accounts for the good result that the company has had since resuming the operation to that country.
Other routes that SKY will operate during the summer high season will be Florianópolis, whose ticket sales will be available as of today with rates from US $ 51 plus boarding fees based on the Zero fare and to be able to fly as of November 5. . The operation will initially have two frequencies, which will reach six during the month of December.
Given the high demand of Chilean tourists to travel to Brazil during the summer, SKY will also double the frequencies to travel to Rio de Janeiro during the high season months, ie January and February of 2020. Thus, the route will go from 6 to 12 flights per week.
"What motivates us every day is to be able to mobilize not only passengers, but also experiences, dreams and projects, putting the sky within everyone's reach. The new route to Salvador de Bahia, in addition to the reactivation and reinforcement of Florianópolis and Rio de Janeiro, go in that direction, offering summer holidays attractive and increasingly accessible to people, "said Serrat.
On the other hand, according to figures from the National Tourism Service (Sernatur), Chile is also among the favorite destinations of Brazilians, since in 2018 about 600 thousand tourists from that country visited national territory, representing a growth of 8.1 % with respect to 2017.
