According to forecasts, Dominican Republic will exceed 15 million air passengers in 2019
The figures obtained from the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) reveal an average annual increase of between 400 and 600 thousand passengers
The projections of the increase in the movement of passengers in the airports of the Dominican Republic, indicate that for the first time the figure of 18 million in regular flights and charter flights is exceeded, thus continuing the pace that has been implementing since 2005, when they were registered according to the figures collected by Infotur Dominicano, a total of 8,366,916 passengers.
The figures obtained from the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), reveal an average increase between 400 - 600 thousand passengers per year. In that sense, the country's airports mobilized a total of 14,488,668 passengers in 2018, so it could close 2019 with figures close to 15 million.
It must be taken into account, however, that the discredit campaign with the Dominican Republic could be a factor whereby the figures projected until June are not achieved, when the country has received 7,935,285 passengers.
It is expected that the work that has been developed in the US market to reverse the effects of some of the registered cancellations, will have its expected results and travelers will resume their reservations and their trip to the Caribbean nation.
For the 15 million passengers, airports must mobilize 7,064,715 passengers. This figure does not seem impossible to achieve, so we reiterate, the results of the US market response should be expected to recover passengers who initially planned their vacations in the Dominican Republic.
