Ecotourism icons are priorities in Embratur's promotional agenda
The director of the Osvaldo Matos de Melo Junior Institute received representatives of sport fishing and bird watching to strengthen the dissemination of the sectors in Brazil
Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Institute) and the National Association of Ecology and Sport Fishing (ANEPE) have signed a new partnership to promote and promote fishing tourism in Brazil. During a meeting held on Tuesday (13) between the director of Marketing and Public Relations of the Institute, Osvaldo Matos de Melo Júnior, and the president of ANEPE, Marcos Glueck, it was agreed that actions will be conducted for the segment.
The idea is to promote press trips, road shows, participation in international tourism fairs and proposed initiatives of the Institute's promotional campaigns, such as the 30-day free in the country. Another new feature will be the creation of a hotsite on the Visit Brasil portal (www. .visitbrasil.com), directing to information of the Association, with images of attractions, destinations and products of the Brazilian sport fishing.
In addition, according to the director of Embratur, the objective is to resume the technical cooperation agreement signed between the Institute and ANEPE, “which until then was still and without progress of the established proposals”. “Our goal is to prioritize such a profitable activity for Brazil. Fishing tourism earns $ 2 billion a year and generates 200,000 jobs in Brazil. In the United States, for example, the sector earns $ 40 billion for the country's economy, ”said Osvaldo Matos.
According to the president of the Association, “with one of the largest biodiversities in the world and fish that do not exist anywhere else on the planet, the sportiness of fishing in Brazil attracts fishermen, tourists and their families from all over the world. This all starts, of course, with the country's great freshwater and saltwater potential. ”
In addition, he thanked the support of the new management of Embratur and made available, voluntarily, the entire collection of images of the activity, captured in different Brazilian regions. The material will be used by the Institute for promotion actions that will be developed for the dissemination of fishing tourism. Another claim presented by the representative of ANEPE was the presence of the entity in tourism fairs, which count on the strong presence of Embratur in the international market.
Birdwatching in Brazil
Still focusing on the biggest promotion of the Nature, ecotourism or adventure segment, Embratur's director Osvaldo Matos de Melo Júnior received representatives from the Guaramiranga Municipal Secretariat, in Ceará, who presented data from the birdwatching region, which is a just over 100 km away from the capital Fortaleza. Secretary Francisco José Rabelo Leal reported that there are more than 150 species of birds, "an opportunity to attract tourists interested in the sector."
“With its mild climate, the small town is an ideal place for nature and ecotourism lovers, offering rich experiences in the middle of the rainforest. There is employment and income generation for families in the communities, so we are in contact with the Federal Government, through Embratur, to support the promotion of the Institute's promotional agenda, ”said the secretary. He invited the entity, on behalf of director Osvaldo Matos, to an event that is being organized with the state and municipal secretaries of tourism of the State of Ceará, focusing on ecotourism and adventure tourism. The idea is that Embratur can be represented and present, among the subjects proposed during the seminar, the new model proposed for transformation into an agency.
