Secretary of Tourism of Mexico meets with his Chinese counterpart
Both officials stressed that tourism is the key to continue consolidating the strategic relationship between both countries
Today, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, concluded the work tour that began last week in the People's Republic of China, meeting with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of that country, Luo Shugang.
With this visit by Secretary Torruco Marqués, the first stage of the tourist promotion of Mexico in the main issuing markets was successfully passed, within the scheme of tourism diplomacy, where the strategic programs of the Ministry of Tourism, combined with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in compliance with the instructions of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
During the tour in China, which had the valuable support of the Mexican embassy in that nation, by Ambassador José Luis Bernal Rodríguez, a broad-spectrum program that includes government-to-government relations, from the federal government and state governments, with the main wholesalers, managers of digital platforms, travel agencies and media specialized in tourism, and the presence of state tourism secretaries whose market responds to the requirements of Chinese tourism and tour operators receptive that accompany them.
The intense work program of Secretary Torruco Marqués successfully culminated in the meeting held with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, Luo Shugang, and seven other senior officials of that Ministry.
In this ministerial meeting, the two sides recognized the accelerated growth of tourist flows between Mexico and China and agreed to promote facilitation measures in three strategic areas: a) air connectivity, with new routes and more flight frequencies; b) streamline visa procedures for tourists; and, c) the extension of the teaching of the Mandarin Chinese language, to meet the growing demand for tourist services.
Both officials reflected on the importance of analyzing new options for Mexican airlines in other large cities and close to large urban centers receiving tourism. And they also agreed on the usefulness of fostering greater approaches between sites of great attraction through twinning, in order to enhance cooperation and tourism flows in both directions.
Secretary Torruco Marques and Minister Luo Shugang stressed that tourism is the key to continue consolidating the strategic relationship between Mexico and China.
This visit sets an important basis for joint work, from which Mexico will continue to be positioned as the most attractive destination for Chinese tourism in Latin America, thus creating conditions for social development and for the benefit of our communities.
