A successful edition of FIT closes in Buenos Aires
The 24th edition of the of the largest travel event in the region and one of the five most important in the world has finished
After four days full of tourism with a large summons of the general public (almost 72,000 visitors at the weekend), professionals (+ 32,000) and the presence of the main authorities of the sector and important national and international references, FIT 2019 closed its doors .
The already installed international rounds of business, innovation, technology and training were again key in this edition in which FIT surprised again exceeding expectations not only in terms of audience, exceeding 103,000 visitors but also in new business generation . The rounds had a record edition with more than 4,500 scheduled appointments, 10% more than in the 2018 edition, with 204 buyers and 453 sellers from Argentina and about 20 countries in the world.
In addition, among the highlights of this day, the automaker FIAT Argentina, one of the companies that joined this edition for the first time presenting products designed for the tourism industry, signed an agreement with FAEVYT (Argentine Federation of Travel Companies Associations and Tourism) so that travel agents across the country can purchase vehicles with special discounts.
During this day, the International Religious Tourism Forum was also held, where the 16th International Congress of Religious and Sustainable Tourism was announced among an extensive agenda to be held in April 2020 in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Without a doubt, the 24th edition of FIT exceeded expectations by putting tourism and its protagonists at the center of the scene. It was attended by 52 countries and the 24 Argentine provinces and a call that grew by 8%, in general public, compared to last year. Visitors were able to enjoy the 117 talks that were held simultaneously in the 6 auditoriums, lots of live shows, typical cuisine of the participating countries and regions and various activities that surprised children and adults.
Gustavo Hani, President of the FIT stated that "this was an issue that surprised again, growing in general and professional public, in concrete operations and exceeding even our expectations" and added that "we not only gave the opportunity for the first time to the Argentine retail travel agencies to market in the Fair but we also made available online promotions in our special edition FIT SALE that will continue until October 12, these alternatives were added to a Fair that is already chosen by the public and by our industry every year. ”
At the end of the day, the Secretary of Tourism Gustavo Santos stressed that “the FIT showed the power and potential of tourism, where the sector in Argentina has no roof and has much to give in quality of life, roots, generation of genuine employment and new opportunities for each inhabitant of the country ”.
The fair thus closes another edition where it ratifies the sustained growth of recent years and its strong positioning in the center of the tourism sector scene in Latin America.
