For the first time in its 32 years of existence, the "Cancun Travel Mart" has seven guest states, which can also promote and market their tourism products, said the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, inaugurating yesterday the event.

He argued that the "Cancun Travel Mart" is a meeting already consolidated both nationally and internationally, so having the participation of representatives of various nationalities, as well as invited entities, talks about its strengthening and maturity as a tourism marketing platform .

"With tourist fairs like this, Quintana Roo and its beautiful destinations, pride of Mexicans, will continue to be a focus of attraction for tourists and investors from around the world," he said.

He added that it is very satisfactory for the Quintana Roo to occupy the first national place in reception of foreign tourists, an achievement that, without a doubt, is due, in addition to its natural and cultural attractions, to the joint work carried out by businessmen and authorities from the State Government to create theme parks with interesting, innovative and attractive tourist products for visitors.

In this context, he said that from January to August of this year, 29.8 million international tourists arrived in Mexico, 7.6 percent higher than in the same period of 2018; and that international visitors left an economic spill of 17 thousand 150 million dollars, 12.3 percent more than in the first eight months of last year.

Accompanied by Marisol Vanegas, Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo, who attended with the representation of the state governor, Carlos Joaquín González; and Roberto Cintrón, president of the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres, Secretary Torruco Marqués recounted the main actions that the Sectur has carried out for the promotion and promotion of tourism in the country.

Among others, he mentioned the creation of “Anchor” products, which will be spearheading in the formation of tourist circuits, capable of triggering the economy of regions, states and the country; the Mayan Train, which will be an example of regional integration for the benefit of five states: Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Campeche, Tabasco and Chiapas; as well as the resizing of the “VisitMexico” page, which will soon be completed its new format.

He also highlighted the organization of the Tourism Tianguis and the participation of Mexico in various international tourism fairs. He placed special emphasis on the "Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos", which will have its first edition next week in Pachuca, Hidalgo.

“I take this opportunity to invite you to this great party that, for the first time, will have an area for business appointments; it will also have an artisan pavilion, a gastronomic zone and a space for each Magic Town, ”he said.

The head of Sectur said that as another promotional tool has already launched the "Operation Knock Doors" program, with a working tour in the People's Republic of China, accompanied by 21 representatives of the tourism sector, both state governments and the private initiative. For this year, it is estimated that 200 thousand tourists from that nation will arrive in Mexico, who will leave an economic spill of 186 million dollars.

He also underlined the continuity of the Mexican Formula 1 Grand Prix, which in a few days will carry out its fifth edition, and which for four consecutive years has been awarded as the "Best Event of the Year", in addition to that six days ago, in London, he was awarded "Leaders Sports Awards" as "The best live sports experience in the world." For now, we will have Formula 1 for the next three years; that is, until 2022.

"We also achieved a good agreement with Nascar Peak Mexico Series, a car race that takes place in seven cities in the country and is broadcast in 17 nations in Latin America, with an impact on 45.8 million tele homes, through Fox Sports 3," he added. .

Therefore, he invited the businessmen of Quintana Roo to invest in the construction of a Nascar track, which could be between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, or between Cancun and the airport, to include this entity in the circuit, which would add to its tourist attractions.
