SORO Montevideo is a modern 40-room boutique hotel. This is the third property of the Hilton portfolio in the South American country

Hilton today announced the opening of SORO Montevideo, Curio Collection by Hilton, which represents the brand's debut in Uruguay and the third Hilton property in the country. The modern 40-room boutique hotel marks the continued growth of the portfolio of unique hotels and resorts in the main destinations throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

"We are delighted to welcome the first Curio Collection by Hilton in Uruguay and celebrate another milestone during the year of the Hilton centenary," said Jorge Giannattasio, senior vice president and chief operating officer, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. "We are committed to being the world leader in hospitality and SORO Montevideo, Curio Collection by Hilton will certainly welcome guests to memorable experiences that showcase the culture of one of the main destinations in South America."

Located in the heart of the charming Uruguayan neighborhood of Pocitos in Montevideo, SORO Montevideo has a contemporary design that embodies the historic charm of the city and its urban style. The 14-story hotel offers well-equipped rooms with natural light and amenities, such as coffee and tea stations, a mini bar, high-definition television and a desk with chair.

The environmental commitment and the unique comforts of the hotel make it a popular place for travelers visiting the city. The new building will incorporate renewable and energy efficient technologies, including a solar collector system for water heating and natural lighting in all public spaces and rooms, in line with Hilton's Travel with Purpose commitment to the environment.

"With the Latin American travel and tourism economy growing by almost 3% last year *, we have focused our regional development in markets such as Uruguay, where we can further expand the presence of our brands," said Jenna Hackett, global director of Curio Collection by Hilton. "Through our partnership with the World Trade Center of Montevideo, we look forward to introducing Curio Collection by Hilton guests and offering unique and authentic experiences that reflect the independent spirit of each of our hotels within the Collection."

SORO Montevideo is located in the heart of Pocitos, recognized for its architectural beauty and as a rich artistic community. Overlooking Tomás Gomensoro Square, inspired by the European square at the end of the 19th century, the hotel offers convenient access to the Rambla de Montevideo, the Pocitos beach, the local Villa Biarritz market and several shopping centers and restaurants.

Hilton currently has a portfolio of almost 150 hotels and resorts open to receive travelers in the Caribbean and Latin America. On its 100th anniversary, the company continues to seek additional growth opportunities in the region and currently has a solid portfolio of around 90 developing hotels throughout the region, including approximately 50 properties in South America.

SORO Montevideo is part of Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest loyalty program for the 17 different Hilton hotel brands. Hilton Honors members who book directly through Hilton's preferred channels have access to instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider that allows members to choose almost any combination of Points and money to book a stay, as well as an exclusive member discount, free standard Wi-Fi and access to the Hilton Honors mobile app.
