Brazil continues to improve its connectivity
Yesterday the new TAP air route between Lisbon (Portugal) and Maceió (AL) was announced
The announcement of a new air operation between Lisbon (Portugal) and Maceió (AL) was celebrated, on Tuesday (19), by the president of Embratur, Gilson Machado Neto. Machado explained that the Institute had a direct participation in the conquest and stressed the importance of improving the air network for northeastern Brazil.
“I met with the government of Alagoas and the directors of TAP at Embratur itself. We managed to facilitate an excellent agreement for the country and for the Brazilian Northeast. Maceió is one of the most beautiful capitals in Brazil and I am sure it will receive a large flow of Portuguese tourists, ”he said.
According to Gilson, irregular structures at Maceio International Airport were holding back the progress of negotiations. He explained that he spoke with the Alagoas government for the correction of an antenna, for example, and that he gave the Portuguese airline the guarantees that the problems would be solved. “It is important to keep the dialogue open for the good of the country. I congratulate the State of Maceió and TAP for this important announcement. ”
Lasting just over 7 hours, sales for the new direct flight will begin on November 25th. The chosen aircraft (A321) can carry 171 passengers.
“It is an important step to increase the flow of Portuguese tourists in Brazil. Currently, about 150,000 visit our country and there is a capacity to increase this value in the coming years, ”concluded Gilson Machado Neto.
