Mon January 13, 2020

The hotel chain announced that Diana Plazas-Trowbridge, originally from Cali (Colombia) has been appointed Chief Sales & Marketing Officer

In this position, Diana is responsible for the Organization of Consumer Operations and for overseeing all aspects of Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management in the 33 countries where Marriott International has representation of 20 of its leading brands in the industry.

Originally from Cali, Colombia, Diana joined Marriott International in 2015, as Vice President, Brand, Marketing & Digital for the Caribbean and Latin America. Diana has led field marketing, or field marketing, and digital organization for the region, as well as the launch of Marriott Bonvoy and managed these disciplines through the integration of Starwood.

In 2018, it set up a new organization of relations with owners and franchises designed to support franchisees and their hotels throughout the region. Their efforts have led to better results across the entire Marriott International franchise portfolio in a number of important metrics, as well as in strengthening relationships.

Diana has also played an integral role in key projects for the region, including the recent introduction of the Marriott International All Inclusive formula at various properties in Mexico and the Caribbean. It has also served as a role model for strong female leadership within the organization, and continues to be a presence that others can trust.

Diana's appointment reflects Marriott International's prolonged commitment to female leadership. More than 40 percent of the 1,000 Marriott International leaders are women, while 50 percent are made up of the company's executive leadership team. By 2025, Marriott International aims to achieve gender representation for world leadership (vice presidents and superiors).

Marriott International is constantly honored as one of the leading companies for its diversity and inclusion; honored by the National Association of Female Executives as one of the leading corporations for employing female executives; as well as the 100 best Working Mother companies; and as one of the leading companies for supporting women-owned businesses by the National Council of Women’s Businesses. Marriott International is proud to continue supporting women with leadership roles, such as Diana, and looks forward to continuing to set the example for companies worldwide.
